Alex Kohut

Alex Kohut is the Founder of North Poll Strategies, a public opinion research firm with a focus on using quantitative and qualitative research to improve communication strategies and advance advocacy efforts.

After obtaining a Masters of Political Management from Carleton University, Alex worked on research and advertising at the Prime Minister’s Office for six years, eventually overseeing all government research and advertising. During this time, he briefed Cabinet and the Prime Minister on public opinion research, helped shape government strategy, and was responsible for the production of all Government of Canada COVID-19 advertising. He also managed overnight polling for the Liberal Party of Canada during the 2019 and 2021 election campaigns.

Since leaving government, Alex has focused on polling in advocacy settings, working first as Senior Director of Research at spark*advocacy, and now serving as the Founder of North Poll Strategies. In these roles, he has designed and conducted research projects for a variety of associations and organizations looking to better understand the Canadian electorate and communicate with both the general public and political decision-makers.
